CUSTOMERS
IBRIX Fusion is in use by companies all over the world, across all major industries. Our customers are leveraging IBRIX Fusion to bring products to market faster, simplify their operations and management and drive higher levels of services.
Pixar Animation Studios
Having produced six animated feature-length films over the past nine years, Pixar was a proven leader. In the making of Cars, the studio employed a number of new techniques to make the characters and sets more realistic. They soon discovered that a frame of animation that was expected to take 1 hour to render was taking 10 hours with their legacy file serving solution. If the film couldn't hit its release date, the studio stood to lose hundreds of millions in box office receipts and marketing tie-ins.
"The IBRIX solution puts the magic sauce on it and allows the file system to read and write the same file system at the same time. We were doing one billion 4k reads per hour on Cars, and there were times when we were doing 10 billion reads per hour and the system kept going. The cool thing is that we got our show done and frankly we weren't going to get there without having had a solution that was different than what we'd used in the past." Greg Brandeau, Vice President of Technology

Walt Disney Feature Animation
Walt Disney Feature Animation is a unit of Walt Disney Studios and produces all animated films for Disney. With the release of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs in 1937, Disney was the first company in history to release a full-length animated feature film. The company went on to produce a string of classics, including Cinderella, Dumbo, and Sleeping Beauty, relying upon traditional hand drawn methods. In January 2006, Disney acquired Pixar as a creative force in developing new projects that Disney can leverage through their multiple media outlets, including television, video games, consumer products, and theme parks.
"IBRIX Fusion allows our rendering application to perform over 100% faster than before in a stable and highly scalable environment, plus we were able to migrate data on-the-fly without shutting down production." Jack Brooks, Vice President, Technology

Electromagnetic Geoservices
EMGS provides valuable information that helps oil and gas exploration professionals locate commercial hydrocarbon reservoirs and rank prospects for drilling, reducing the risks and cost of drilling dry holes.
"Since implementing the IBRIX solution, we are processing over ten times more surveys than before and can feed multiple jobs through in quick succession. Now we can acquire more data and process multiple jobs in a shorter timeframe without experiencing bottlenecks along the way." Helge Stranden, IT Manager

Spinnaker Exploration, Now Hydro Gulf of Mexico
Spinnaker Exploration, a leading global energy company with extensive operations in oil and gas development, has experienced dramatic improvements in seismic application performance with IBRIX Fusion. Since deployment, seismic processing time has been reduced from several days to under an hour, allowing larger amounts of data to be processed with fixed resources. And given the shortened processing time, real-time adjustments can be made to drilling projects, further increasing project accuracy.
"Since we have deployed IBRIX Fusion in our datacenter, earlier bottlenecks which were hindering overall system performance and compute iteration processing speeds have been eliminated. We have literally shaved our processing time on several applications from three days to under 30 minutes. We were so please with the results we achieved that we have recently deployed our second IBRIX Fusion cluster." Ben Kokenge, Systems Integration Manager

University at Buffalo, Center for Computational Research
In the seven years since its inception, the University at Buffalo's Center for Computational Research has emerged as one of the world's foremost supercomputing research facilities in computational science—an emerging discipline that unites computer science and mathematics with research in biology, chemistry, physics, and other applied and engineering fields.
"EMC, Dell, and IBRIX provided a single system that gives us the ability to enable discovery in a wide sphere of influence. No single system is going to be optimal for all scientific problems, but it is our belief that this system is meeting the vast majority of our users' needs in a very efficient and very effective fashion." Dr. Russ Miller, Director
